Speech- No Sports Day

Good morning Dr Koon, Miss Keong and Mr Tan.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to stand before you to share what is on my mind. The reason I am here today is to tell you all the importance of having a Sports Day in the annual school calendar. You may be thinking why we should have a Sports Day.

To begin with, Sports Day helps to bond the school together. We should have different colour Houses for our School Sports Day, which compete among the various Houses of the school. And we can organised in such a way that they unites the students and teachers from different classes, levels and Co-Curricular Activities. They will then have to work together to train, to cheer, to project House identity and to win! This will definitely bring out teamwork and unity; and when these are presence, there will be bonding.

Added to this, Sports Day helps to destress students. We all know that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." To me, taking a break from studying and doing mind relaxing things like exercising helps me to relax and recharge. The result is: a refreshed mind helps me to study better. I believe that everyone is like that too. Therefore, Sports Day has its benefits.

On the whole, there are many strong arguments in favour of Sports Day. I urge you all to bring it back!
